My fiancé(e) and I want to learn a dance for our wedding. Which dance style should we learn for our first dance?
Your first dance as husband and wife is a special event that you will remember for a long time and can be one of the highlights of your wedding. The style of dance you choose should reflect your vision of your special day, the feelings that you share, and a song that is meaningful to you as a couple. Also take into consideration how much time you are willing to devote to preparing your wedding dance.
The foxtrot is a common dance learned by wedding couples, as it works well for many songs couples choose and it is easy to learn. The waltz is another favorite as is the rumba.
If you are looking for something a little more upbeat and energetic, consider the salsa, swing hustle or cha cha. These are fun dances and great to know because they can be used in a variety of social situations.
Whichever dance style you choose for your wedding dance, it is meant to be a special moment shared by the two of you. A simple slowdance, swaying to a favorite song while wrapped in each other’s arms might be the right choice for you!
I found this infographic and wanted to share. Even though I am a dance teacher, and want everyone to be excited to learn dancing, it isn’t always necessary for every couple to take lessons.
